Voitokkaasti kautensa aloittanut Helsinki Roosters kohtaa Wolverinesin ykkösdivisioonajoukkueen lauantaina 11.5. Ulko-Velodromilla klo 13:00 alkaen ahmattarien kotiottelussa. Kauden ensimmäisessä ottelussa pelin parhaana palkittu laitahyökkääjä, Lotta Eränkangas, on tyytyväinen joukkueen peliin ja yhteishenkeen.

”Kausi saatiin hienosti startattua ottamalla voitto kauden avausottelusta. Samalla päästiin myös yli pahimmista kauden alun jännityksistä, mikä varmasti kasvattaa suoritusvarmuuttamme seuraavaan otteluun lähdettäessä. Videoiden katselun ja viikon treenien jälkeen odotan, että lauantaina kentällä nähdään entistä kurinalaisempi ja yhtenäisempi Roosters-hyökkäys", hän toteaa.

Samalla linjalla jatkaa myös Roostersin hyökkäyksen koordinaattori, Janne Laukka.

"Wolverines Bluen päivän pelikunto riippuu paljon siitä, ketkä pelipäivän rosterissa on mukana. Keskitytään kuitenkin omaan tekemiseen, koska se on ainoa asia mihin pystytään itse vaikuttamaan."

Huomioitavaa on myös, että tiiviisti Lohja Lionessesin kanssa yhteistyötä tekevä Roosters saa vahvistuksia ja tuoreita jalkoja oman pelaajiston lisäksi myös lohjalaisrintamalta. Wolverines tulee varmasti nälkäisenä helsinkiläisten keskinäiseen kohtaamiseen koettuaan ykkäsdivisioonan kaudenavausottelussaan tappion Kuopio Steelersille luvuin 6-26.

"Kiva päästä pelaamaan paikallismatsia, kun ollaan taas samalla sarjatasolla. Roosters on kuitenkin se joukkue, jota vastaan olen pelannut todennäköisesti eniten mun peliuralla, joten mielenkiintoista nähdä mitä tämänvuotinen versio tekee", kommentoi Wolverinesin hyökkäyksen linjaa pelaava jefukonkari, Minttu Hurme.

Roosters women are facing Wolverines in the Helsinki Derby

Helsinki Roosters, who have started their season victoriously, will face Wolverines' the first division team on Saturday, May 11th. The match will take place at Ulko-Velodrom starting at 1:00 PM, hosted by Wolverines. MVP of this season's first game, wide receiver Lotta Eränkangas is satisfied with the Roosters performance and team spirit.

"We got the season off to a great start by winning the opening match of the season. At the same time, we also got over the worst of the season's early tensions, which will surely increase our performance reliability as we approach the next match. After watching the videos and training for the week, I expect to see a more disciplined and cohesive Roosters offense on Saturday," she says.

Roosters' offensive coordinator, Janne Laukka, also continues on the same line.

"The playing condition of Wolverines Blue on the day depends a lot on who is included in the roster on game day. However, we focus on our own performance because it's the only thing we can control."

It's also interesting that Roosters, who collaborate closely with Lohja Lionesses, will get reinforcements and fresh legs not only from their own roster but also from the Lohja side. Wolverines will surely come hungry for the Helsinki encounter after experiencing a loss to Kuopio Steelers with a score of 6-26 in their season opener.

"It's nice to play a local match when we're again at the same league level. However, Roosters is the team against which I've probably played the most in my career, so it's interesting to see what this year's version will do," comments Minttu Hurme, a veteran of Wolverines' offensive line.
