Roostersin naisten joukkue päättää kautensa runkosarjan kärkisijaan ja finaaliotteluun Myyrmäen jalkapallostadionilla Wasa Royalsia vastaan. Vaikka Royals piti pitkään sarjan viimeistä sijaa, on se ainut joukkue, joka runkosarjan aikana pystyi kukistamaan Roostersin.

” Olen todella tyytyväinen menneeseen runkosarjaan sekä erittäin ylpeä koko joukkueesta, mutta myös itsestäni ja omasta tekemisestäni”, helsinkiläisten kapteenistoon kuuluva Roosa Eklund summaa.

”Kaikki pelit olivat tasaisia ja viimeiseen vihellykseen asti sai tehdä tosissaan duunia jotta päästiin voittajina lähtemään kotiin. Kauden ainoa tappio tulikin vaasalaisia vastaan, joita vastaan saamme odotetun revanssin finaalissa. Edellisessä kohtaamisessa Vaasa antoi todella kovan vastuksen ja ansaitusti veivät pisteet kotiin. Tulevaan kohtaamiseen valmistautuminen on jo käynnissä niin yksilöiden kuin joukkueen tasolla, olemme myös saaneet sivussa olleet pelaajat takaisin pelikuntoon. Finaalista tulee varmasti kauden jännittävin ottelu, joten haastan jokaisen tulemaan kannustamaan meitä paikan päälle. Uskon, että ottelu on tasainen sekä tapahtumarikas ja voittajaksi selviytyy se, joka haluaa pokaalia enemmän. Me halutaan sitä ainakin todella kovasti.”

Ykkösdivisioona on koko kesän ollut äärettömän tasainen ja sarjan aikana on nähty useita jatkoaikavoittoja. Vaasa on voittoputkessa selvitettyään tiensä finaaliin välierissä Jaguarseja vastaan.

Royalsin päävalmentaja, Pasi Roimela, kertoo joukkueen valmistautuneen hyvällä fiiliksellä tulevaan kauden kohokohtaan. ”Meillä on kova draivi päällä. Kolmen tappion jälkeen neljä voittoa. Kauden puolivälissä näytti, että pudotuspelipaikka olisi kokonaan menossa muille, mutta käännettiin niukat tappiot voitoksi ja saatiin jopa kotietu välierään, ja siitäkin voitto. Roostersilla on viikko enemmän lepoa alla ja finaali on heidän kotiottelu, mutta saa nähdä vaikuttaako se mihinkään. Kauden viimeinen matsi, niin molemmat kuitenkin kaivaa kaikki avaimet säkin pohjalta, että voitto tulee. Roosters pelaa monipuolista peliä, mikä on aina haastavaa, mutta ehkä meiltäkin tulee muutama yllätys finaalin kunniaksi. Varmasti nähdään viihdyttävä finaali!”

Roosters Reach the Final against Wasa Royals to Conclude Their Season

Roosters Women finishes the regular season in the top spot and advances to the final match against Wasa Royals at Myyrmäki football stadium. Although Royals held the bottom position in the league for a long time, they were the only team that managed to defeat Roosters during the regular season.

"I am really pleased with the past regular season and very proud of the whole team, but also of myself and my own performance," sums up Roosa Eklund, who is part of the Roosters captaincy.

"All the games were close, and until the final whistle, we had to work hard to come out as winners. Our only loss of the season came against the team from Vaasa, against whom we will have the anticipated rematch in the final. In the previous encounter, Vaasa put up a tough fight and rightfully took the points home. Preparation for the upcoming match is already underway at both individual and team levels, and we have also welcomed back the players who were sidelined. The final will undoubtedly be the most exciting match of the season, so I challenge everyone to come and cheer us on at the venue. I believe the match will be intense and eventful, and the winner will be the one who wants the trophy more. We certainly want it very much."

The First Division has been extremely competitive throughout the summer, with several overtime victories during the season. Vaasa is on a winning streak after reaching the final by defeating the Jaguars in the semifinals.

Royals' head coach, Pasi Roimela, says the team is preparing with a good feeling for the highlight of the season. "We have a strong drive. After three losses, we secured four wins. At the halfway point of the season, it looked like the playoff spot would be going to others, but we turned narrow defeats into victories and even gained home advantage in the semifinals, and we won that too. Roosters have a week more rest and the final is their home game, but it remains to be seen if that will have any impact. It's the last match of the season, so both teams will leave no stone unturned to secure the victory. Roosters play a versatile game, which is always challenging, but perhaps we will have a few surprises for the final. It will undoubtedly be an entertaining final!"
