Runkosarjan ensimmäinen kierros on pelattu ja toiselle kierrokselle Roostersin naisten joukkue lähtee tappiottomasta 3-0 asemasta. Edellinen ottelu Jyväskylä Jaguarseja vastaan oli molemmille kauden avaus. Silloin helsinkiläiset poistuivat Viitaniemen kentältä voittajina jatkoajan jälkeen 26-34 (26-26).

”Vieraspelikiertue meni juuri niin kuin halusimme ja kolmella voitolla takataskussa on hyvä aloittaa kotipelit. Tästä huolimatta suhtaudumme jokaiseen peliin vakavasti emmekä anna otteen lipsua. Olemme kokeilleet eri puolustuksen konsepteja ekoissa peleissä ja tulemme nyt myös tuomaan uutta sekä toistaa vanhat hyviksi todetut jekut. Uskon vahvasti, että Jyväskylä tulee tulemaan lujaa ja myös jättämään kaiken kentälle. Yhtälailla he haluavat matkata kotiin voitto takataskussa kuin me. Eli uskon, että nähdään hyvää kovaa fudista Velolla lauantaina!” kertoo Roostersin puolustuksen koordinaattori, Henrika Stjernberg.

Jännittävää lauantai-iltaa Velodromille ennustaa myös Jaguarsien Jenni Patana, joka pelaa linjassa molemmin puolin palloa. ”Meidän eka kohtaaminen Roostersin kanssa kääntyi jatkoajalla Roostersin voitoksi. Roosters onkin tälle kaudelle saanut hyvin vahvistettua omaa joukkuettaan, ja se näkyi tuossa ensimmäisessä pelissä. Nyt kuitenkin ollaan saatu useampi peli alle, videoita on katsottu tiuhaan ja omia virheitä karsittu niin puolustuksessa kuin hyökkäyksessä, joten Velodromille on lauantaina tulossa äkäinen naaraspetolauma hakemaan pisteet Jyväskylään. Jos itse istuisin katsomassa tulevaa peliä, seuraisin erityisesti Jaguarsin puolustusta, joka on pitänyt vastustajan nollilla kahdessa edellisessä pelissä, ja näin ollen päästänyt vähiten pisteitä ykkösdivarijoukkueista tähän mennessä. Meidän yksittäisistä pelaajista seuraisin Aino Piippoa, jolla on käsittämätön pelinlukukyky ja tahdonvoima nuoresta iästään huolimatta. Lisäksi seuraisin Kaisu Peuraa hyökkäyksen linjan sentterinä. Kaisu omalla rauhallisuudellaan ja kokemuksellaan johtaa linjaa aina vain parempiin suorituksiin.”

Lauantaina Velodromilla nähdään myös comeback, kun kentille paluun punapaidassa tekee kokenut keskushyökkääjä, Saija Pyymäki. ”Roostersin kausi on alkanut loistavasti ja joukkueen onnistumisia on tullut seurattua tiiviisti ollessani vanhempainvapaalla. Tuleva peli Jaguarseja vastaan tulee olemaan kova, jossa mitataan joukkueiden voiton nälkää. Tuleva peli on erityisesti itselleni tärkeä, sillä pääsen aloittamaan oman pelikauteni ja antamaan täyden panokseni Roostersin hyväksi”, Pyymäki kommentoi.

Roosters Women start their home games against the Jaguars

The first round of the regular season has been played, and the Roosters women's team enters the second round with a perfect 3-0 record. The previous match against the Jyväskylä Jaguars was the season opener for both teams. The Helsinki team emerged as winners after overtime with a score of 26-34 (26-26).

"The away game tour went exactly as we wanted, and with three victories under our belt, it's a good way to start the home games. Nevertheless, we take every game seriously and don't let our grip slip. We have tried different defensive concepts in the first few games and will now bring in new strategies as well as repeat the proven tricks. I strongly believe that Jyväskylä will come strong and leave everything on the field. They also want to go home with a victory in their pocket, just like us. So, I think we'll see a good and tough football game at Velodrom on Saturday!" says Henrika Stjernberg, the Roosters' defensive coordinator.

Jenni Patana from the Jaguars, who plays on both sides of the ball, predicts an exciting Saturday night at Velodrom. "Our first encounter with the Roosters ended in their victory in overtime. The Roosters have strengthened their team well for this season, and it showed in that first game. However, we have now played several games, watched videos intensively, and eliminated our own mistakes in both defense and offense. Therefore, an angry pack of female predators is coming to Velodrom on Saturday to claim the points for Jyväskylä. If I were watching the upcoming game, I would pay special attention to the Jaguars' defense, which has kept the opponents scoreless in the last two games and has allowed the fewest points among the first division teams so far. Among our individual players, I would follow Aino Piippo, who has an incredible game reading ability and determination despite her young age. I would also follow Kaisu Peura as the center of the offensive line. With her calmness and experience, Kaisu leads the line to better performances."

On Saturday at Velodrom, there will also be a comeback as experienced running back Saija Pyymäki returns to the field in a red jersey. "The Roosters' season has started brilliantly, and I have closely followed the team's successes while being on parental leave. The upcoming game against the Jaguars will be tough, measuring the teams' hunger for victory. The upcoming game is particularly important to me as I get to start my own playing season and give my full contribution to the success of the Roosters," commented Pyymäki.
